Dr. Tom Scales

Dr. Tom Scales received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wheaton College in Illinois and his medical degree from the University of Tennessee, Memphis. He did his residency training at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago. He is the founder, owner, and medical director of the Scales Nutrition and Wellness Center, an outpatient multidisciplinary clinic that specializes in the assessment and management of patients with eating disorders. He was also a talk show host for a web-based radio show entitled “Understanding Eating Disorders”. He is board certified in both internal medicine and psychiatry. He also has additional certification in treating patients with opioid dependence and is a Suboxone provider.

Katherine Fowler

Katherine Fowler, MS, RD, LDN, is a licensed and registered dietitian who received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and her Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition from The University of Memphis. Katherine is a member of the American Dietetic Association, Eating Disorder Coalition of Tennessee, Nashville District Dietetic Association, National Eating Disorders Association, Behavioral Health Dietetic Practice Group, and Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group. Katherine has contributed to scientific research and has been published in the Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Prior to moving to Nashville, Katherine worked at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.



Jim Schettler

Jim Schettler is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been in practice since 1994 working with individuals, groups, couples, and families. He works with a multitude of issues including depression, anxiety, OCD, addiction, trauma, and relational issues, and specializes in eating disorders. He is trained in level II EMDR. Jim also helps clients who wish to integrate their faith into their journey. He has a Bachelor or Arts in Psychology from Lubbock Christian University and a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University. He has a wife and two children.


Kristie Lorenz

Kristie Lorenz is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been in practice since 2001. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Austin Peay State University and her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University. She has several years of experience specializing in treating eating disorders from a team-based, empirically driven treatment perspective. Her experience includes work with individuals, groups, and families. The treatment perspective she works from is eclectic and usually utilizes elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems, experiential therapy, insight-oriented therapy, and play therapy. She also has a background in school counseling, including child, adolescent, and family therapy. She is a Kentucky-Tennessee native and a proud mother of one child.
